| Last year, many families from the United States and Canada turned to providers to fulfill a loved ones request for cremation. The election of cremation is no longer a rare or unusual choice. Cremation is rapidly becoming a common alternative to traditional burials.
The word cremation refers only to a final treatment method for remains. It does not encompass the remembrance services that celebrate someone's life and allow loved ones to say goodbye. In fact, any ceremonies or gatherings that the family wishes can be incorporated, including visitations or memorial services. Memphis Funeral Home has a wide range of services available that allow families many choices.
The options available to families are almost limitless. A family may keep the cremains, or a loved one's ashes, in an urn indefinitely or until they are ready to decide on a final resting place. Ashes may be scattered in a variety of places (provided scattering in the site selected meets with state and local laws), including Scattering Gardens. If a family wishes to have a traditional burial service there are cemeteries that have special sites for the interment of urns. Placement in a columbarium is an outdoor wall containing niches, or recessed compartments designed to hold urns.
When you choose Memphis Funeral Home, you can be assured that all services will be performed according to the most stringent standards that are known for the integrity, respect, and thoroughness they bring to the cremation process. Memphis Funeral Home has our own crematory here locally.
Memphis Funeral Home has voluntarily imposed strict documentation/identification and operating procedures including multiple review points from the time of death until release of the remains. We have an extensive training program for crematory operators that include certification by the Cremation Association of North America (CANA). |
